What to expect in your session with me

Before the session

Before your session, take the time to contemplate and set a goal or intention for the Reiki session, meditating or thinking through what area of your well-being you'd like to focus on. Your intention can be physical, emotional, or spiritual, and your intention should be fully personalized to you. A list of Reiki Benefits can be found on my Reiki home page as a starting point.  We can work together to define your intention during the start of our session, as well.

I do suggest refraining from caffeine, sugar, alcohol, or heavy foods at least 24hrs before the session and hydrating well. If possible, try to not schedule anything too strenuous following your session.

A client intake form will be filled out at the time of booking the appointment. You may also have additional insights to share on the day of your session.

In-person sessions:  Comfy clothes are suggested - something you will feel unrestricted laying down in.   I will have everything else ready for you. Having a journal handy to write down your experience afterwards is also suggested.

Virtual sessions: These sessions will be conducted via Zoom - give Zoom a try before hand if it's new to you. Set up a quiet and comfortable environment in your home or a location where you can be undisturbed during the session. Add anything into your space that feels good - favorite blankets, scents or candles, or any other methods that add relaxation. Having a journal handy to write down your experience afterwards is also suggested.

During the session

In-person Sessions:

-I will have the room prepared for you. All you have to do is come in with your intention or I can help you explore this when you arrive

-We'll begin our session chatting a bit to connect and assess what it is you are needing most in this current season of your life.

-Soft music will be playing in the background and I often integrate aromatherapy essential oils.

                        *  (If you have any sensitivities or allergies, please indicate this in your intake form. )

-You will remain fully clothed, except your shoes, and will lay on your back on the treatment table

-Reiki practitioners use light hand placements over different parts of the body where energy can flow and release any blockages.  * (Reiki can be done without any contact, if preferred)

-Many people feel very internally relaxed and connected during their sessions. There is no right or wrong way to experience Reiki, and I enjoy following  your inner wisdom  throughout the session.  Every session is truly unique

-Closing out your session, we will spend some time reflecting on your experience and explore practical steps to integrate into your daily life to deepen your benefits

Virtual Sessions:

-You will be sent a Zoom video conference link to the email address you provided at time of booking

-Setup a quiet and calming space for your session.  To best prepare, give yourself a few minutes to center before the session begins

Other things to note for any session:

- If you need to pause, adjust, or have any questions throughout your experience, please let me know

-Temperature changes,  tingling sensations, or movements in the body are normal, as this is the energy flowing and releasing from the body

-Thoughts may also flow in and out. Bring gentle awareness and lovingkindness to them and continue your experience without judgement

-Reiki is a loving and graceful energy and is only intended for  good

Following the session

-Journal and reflect on your experience and ask as many questions as you'd like

-Ensure to get rest and drink plenty of water. Reiki is a deep healing experience and you may feel tired afterwards

-Healing and releases can still occur days after your session

-Be patient with yourself and your body. Healing takes time and it may take a few sessions to fully release certain things. However, within your first sessions you may already see and feel some shifts and benefits

-While Reiki is a powerful tool for healing and growth, please continue with any current instructions or treatment provided by your healthcare professional team
